Neighborhood Block Party

This event is held each year in conjunction with the National Night Out program. The Block Party is an opportunity for the entire Silver Creek neighborhood to get together for an enjoyable time of food, fun and fellowship.

Non-profit Organizations

Each year we invite various organizations from within the community to come and set up an information booth so they can connect with community members who may need the services they provide. Non-profits and service organizations which have been a part of the Block Party in the past would include; Chocolay Lions Club, UP Diabetes Outreach Network, Care Clinic, and Room at the Inn. Last year over 20 non-profit community organizations participated in the event.

Local Businesses and Strategic Partnerships

The Block Party provides an opportunity for local business owners to participate in the event in several different ways; Participant; a business who helps by giving one-time donations of prizes, food or supplies for the event. Sponsor; a business that assists by collecting and or donating backpacks and school supplies for the Block Party. Partner; a sponsor who not only collects/donates school supplies but who volunteers at the event.

New for 2012

Children's Clothing Closet

The Silver Creek Church block party is hosting a children's clothing closet. Children ages 2-17 will have the opportunity to select up to 4 free outfits. We ask participants to pre-register for the clothing event. This allows us to determine where the greatest need is in sizes. In addition, pre-registered participants will have the opportunity to enter the clothing closet first. Registration is accepted at the door at a first come first serve basis. Please note that registering does not guarantee your child's clothing size will be available, as the inventory of donated gently used clothing is undetermined. Those in need of additional outfits may revisited the clothing closest the last hour of the block party.
